The Importance of Using Cat Carriers
Whenever a cat owner is bound to travel, carriers are one of the things that they think of especially if they intend to bring their cats with them. If by any chance you will need a cat carrier then there are vital points that you must keep in mind before purchasing them.
In purchasing a cat carrier you must see to it that your cat is highly comfortable in using it. The size of the cat carrier you intend to purchase is vital. The space must be big enough for them to lie down comfortable and move. Make sure they can stretch their body once placed in the carrier. It is also important that the surface will not make your cat feel uncomfortable too.
If you are going to aboard on a plane then you must purchase hard kennels. If the trip will not require traveling through a plane or any air traveling vehicles then you can purchase a wicker carrier.
If the trip will take some time, then you may need to purchase the carrier ahead of time and start placing them in the carrier so that they’ll get used to it. Perhaps you can start placing them in the carrier for a few days prior the trip, you can place them for several minutes each day. It is important on your part to make them feel relax while in the carrier or kennel so that they will not panic when they are placed in it. With this, you can be assured that they will not feel scared when placed inside the carrier for quite some time.
If you are using a hard carrier then you can either use a mat or a paper lining on its surface to make your cat feel more comfortable. This will make them more at ease while on a trip. Another perks of doing the latter is that you will not feel problematic in cleaning their mess. A cloth or foam can also be added if you like but of course this one depends on your preference.
It is also a good thing to add some light scent in your kennel to avoid any awful smell. This is especially true if you intend to travel in enclosed areas like in a car or a bus.
In traveling with your cat you have to make sure the contact information and your name is found in the carrier or on your cat’s collar.
It is also important that the kennel is locked and secured. For air travel, need not to worry for this one since the flight personnel will make sure its lock but if you’ll travel by car make sure it’s locked.
